True performance
Limitless power allows you to make the most of the potential of Intel processors and DDR5 memory modules.
AI Overclocking
The tuning process is even faster and smarter than ever before. ASUS AI Overclocking performs CPU and cooling system profiling, allowing you to plan the optimal configuration and maximize your system's potential. The predicted optimal values can be activated automatically or used as a basis for further experimentation with settings.
Grouped power system architecture
The architectures of current processors place enormous demands on motherboard power supply systems. This is dictated by the immediate transition from maximum power saving mode to full load mode. The ROG VRM architecture addresses this challenge by using grouped power phases to rapidly change current while maintaining exemplary performance in terms of operating temperature.
DDR5
ROG has a long tradition of achieving the highest possible memory module speeds, and the DDR5 standard will be no exception.
VRM heatsink and aluminum I/O panel heatsink
The VRM heatsink on the MOSFET transistors and chokes is connected to the aluminum I/O socket panel heatsink via a built-in "U" shaped heat pipe, thus increasing the weight and surface area for heat dissipation.
M.2 heatsinks and backplates
Large heat sinks and backplates provide ample surface area for heat dissipation to keep installed M.2 drives cool.
High conductivity thermal pads
All thermal pads improve the overall heat dissipation properties of the system by transferring heat generated by the power stages to the heatsink.
Solid metal backplate
The electroplated metal backplate reinforces the frame structure of the ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme motherboard, preventing it from bending.
Chipset heat sink
A dedicated heatsink draws heat away from the chipset, helping to maintain ideal operating temperatures.
Multiple sources of temperature monitoring
Each slot can be set to monitor and respond to one of three user-configurable thermal sensors.
4-pin fan slots
In addition to a pair of CPU fan slots, the Maximus Z790 Extreme motherboard is equipped with two chassis fan slots and two heatsink slots, each supporting automatic fan type detection - PWM or DC.
PCIe 5.0
The ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme motherboard offers extensive Gen 5 connectivity, which provides the maximum possible bandwidth for the fastest SSDs and graphics cards available.
Wi-Fi 6E
The built-in Wi-Fi card uses the 6 GHz band for lower transmission latency on networks with multiple simultaneously connected wireless devices, plus wide 160 MHz channels to speed up data transfers. For even smoother connections, the 5 or 6 GHz bands can be used simultaneously with the 2.4 GHz band for connections - thanks to Intel Double Connect Technology.
10G Ethernet
Marvell AQtion's integrated 10Gbps network card is designed to meet the requirements of advanced users and content creators, enabling them to enter the next era of home network connections. With nearly unlimited bandwidth, file transfers and system backups are now faster than ever before.
