How does PunchOut work?

- ‘Punch out’ into a custom version of our eCommerce website, tailored just for you.
- See only the items available for you to purchase and prices adjusted for your contract.
- Shop as usual, adding the products you want to your basket.
- When you’ve finished shopping, check out as usual. You’ll punch back in to your eProcurement system to complete the transaction.


In the background, PunchOut acts as an intermediary between your eProcurement system and our commercial catalogue. It sends encrypted data back and forth through a secure connection.
Most PunchOut systems use a custom version of XML called cXML (commerce eXtensible Markup Language) to transfer product and cart data between systems. Depending on your eProcurement system, it can also use other languages including OCI (Open Catalog Interface).
